England.

These photos were taken in the summer of 2023 in Blackpool. The reason for me to come here with my camera was in the first place the photo work (book) of Martin Parr (The last resort, new Brighton, 1986). I have a completely different style and way of working, but I also saw & see similarities with his work. I am first and foremost a “street” photographer and also interested in the unusual of the ordinary and everyday (common live) and the “excesses” of the consumers society.

This series is a kind of visual document about the current Blackpool that has lost much of it’s old glory! There is a lot of impoverishment and vacancy, it is also an image of the decline of the welfare state and the consequences of Brexit!

This series is part of a “project” about the changes in the present world caused by all kinds of mechanisms in society such as inequality and greed and the wrong distribution etc etc…  which are present in the UK and also elsewhere!

With my photo work, I try to contribute something to more insight & awareness about this topic and hopefully also to change and improvement, which is probably difficult but definitely worth trying!
